The Morse code of the word IRINI revealed a rhythm figure in 13/8 time. You think a small distance between the sounds of the individual letters (a 16th rest / or even an 8th rest), you would get the 13/8-eighth-note beat or even 21/8-beat. One finds such time signatures and rhythmic figures in the folklore of all Balkan countries - and there they are as 'normal' as in our 3/4 and 4/4 - time.
Hungarian, Romanian, Croatian, Greek, especially Bulgarian composers of so-called classical music have taken up these rhythms. But - apart from Bartók - these composers outside their countries are little known - and certainly not their works. But, also an American jazz pianist - Dave Brubeck - has used these rhythms and the jazz fans of all over the world (the gambling as well as the listeners) all know at least two of his pieces:
«Take five "and the" Blue Rondo à la Turque«.
The two opening bars of the Rondo theme, I have contrasted the IRINI motif in my composition, confronted them with it. Hence the - perhaps - somewhat strange title: Hello DAVE - here is IRINI.
Perhaps the connoisseur recognizing the quotation have a bit of fun?
And who doesn't know Brubeck? One could imagine that IRINI is a pretty girl, who sent greetings to DAVE.
But IRINI is also - and actually - a message of peace to the world! And why should we not send this message to a different ambassador (like Brubeck with his music)?
