Irini
In remembrance of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising from the 19/4 to 16/5/1943.
An emptiness, where before life was
the wish for that of peace with each other which did not come true
also in the ghetto children play
knowing to be hunted
to have to flee if the soldiers come.
Running. No play.
In the hiding place.
Alone, only in trusting that which liberates
Scraps of photos are blown in the wind over the street, like the cinders of those which they show
They come. Marching steps-by-step. To their war drums. Their weapons. Against empty hands. A dance, a death march.
above the roofs, in the canals. They are quick, they who no longer are victims.
and over and over again the longing for a life in peace
and the will to be no longer a victim
Someday. A land without persecution.
They come from all sides.
Someday not only hope will remain
