The model, using the Morse code for the word “irini” has 13 beats. What can one do with it? I have packed it into three 5/4 time(s) – they are voluminous but also multifaceted: I present four variations (shortened out of necessity) each of which the accent is placed on another note of the of the beginning measure. (the introduction illustrates this principle). The accentuation molds the character of the pieces:
Variation No. 1 is a “supported” waltz (based on an earlier work by me)
Variation No. 2 is a Swiss nostalgic “Kuhreihen” (with Toccata)
Variation No.3 is a nostalgic ballad
Variation No.4 is my “Take-Five”
