Hans Werner Heymann Hans Werner Heymann: Diabelli-Contest 2014

« Back ⇧List⇧ Next »
WIth the composition I give the desperate cry for peace as well as expression of the historical experience, that all hopes of peace are always threatened by failure. In the profound calm in which the piece closes, the threat to desired peace still resinates long after.

The cited Mendelssohn measures - which appear in the piano piece always harmonious or rhythmically 'broken'- come into contact with his poignant scoring of Psalm 91 from 1844, thus 70 years before the outbreak of World War II. The reason for the award of the competition theme - 2015, 70 years since the end of World War II - is so, as it were mirrored in the past.

The Morse Code by Irini is heard in the composition a total of 57 times, in conjunction with five different musical forms (in part, strongly augmented).

For the benefit of clarity and easier dynamic differentiation, the piano notes are partially listed in three systems. The reprinted choral lyrics for the first appeared quotation of Mendelssohn is for information only.

The submitted MP3 file does not render a live recording, but was technically produced only by means of notation software.
