Tobias Peschanel
Born in 1983, Tobias Peschanel attended the Richard Strauss Conservatory and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich to study composition with Wilfried Hiller and Jan Müller-Wieland as well as conducting with Ulrich Nicolai. Prior to that, he had trained to be an opera singer with Kammersängerin Sena Jurinac, Elisabeth Haumann and Kammersängerin Christel Goltz. He complemented his voice and acting studies by taking lessons with Edda and Stefan Sevenich and attending various master classes with Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender and others. His catalog of works as a composer comprises works commissioned by Kulturkreis Gasteig e.V., Landeshauptstadt Munich, Ernst-von-Siemens-Musikstiftung, Ökumenischer Kirchentag 2010 and the Bayerische Akademie der Schönen Künste, to name but a few. Among other institutions, he has worked for the A*DEvantgarde-Festival, the Munich Biennale and Carl-Orff-Stiftung. On the opera and concert stage, he has sung/played the parts of Guglielmo and Count Almaviva (Roll & Walk-Festival, Augsburg), the baritone part in Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” (Altes Stadttheater Eichstätt and Ellinger Musiksommer) and Coppélius in “The Tales of Hoffmann” (Festspiele Schloß Rheinsberg). He has frequently performed at concerts and recitals in Munich, Augsburg, Regensburg and at the Münsterkonzerte Dießen as well as at the Deutsches Mozartfest 2014. From 2010 to 2014, he worked for the directing class at the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding where, among other things, he conducted adaptations of Weber’s “Abu Hassan” and Dallapiccola’s “Volo di note” and lectured on R. Strauss‘ and Carl Orff’s music theater works. In Augsburg he was in charge of a production of Viktor Ullmann‘s “The Emperor of Atlantis” featuring soloists from Munich’s Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz. Peschanel was awarded the Sudetendeutscher Förderpreis 2012, he won an award at the international singing contest at Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and has received a scholarschip from the Bavarian Ministry for Science, Research and the Arts to stay at the Cité International des Arts in Paris. He lives in the Greater Munich area and works as a freelancer.
