The composer decided during composing that immediately after the end of the Second World War,
to depict a conceivably arisen feeling which resulted from the last bomb, the last shot fired and above all
the spreading of the good news. At the beginning of the composition, one might be able to recognize the tolling of the church bell as peace finally prevailed. The “Irini” theme is performed in a key of major, whereby the composer draws an analogy with the blue flag of the European Union.
The “Irini” theme commences in 8+3 time, a style of performance begins at the 30th measure until the 60th measure. The composer lets the voices of the war dead call the word “Irini”.
The composer recorded the work himself.
