Roger Jannotta
ROGER JANNOTTA is an American composer and musician (flute, oboe, saxophone and clarinet) who has lived in Munich since 1978.
Janotta studied at the New England Conservatory of Music, Boston; tMozarteum, Salzburg; the Royal College of Music, London, and at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. He worked as a university teacher at the Berklee School of Music in Boston, at the University of New Mexico and at the jazz department of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich (2008 to 2010).
He has been involved in performances and recordings with/for Münchner Kammerspiele, Carla Bley, Michael Mantler, ICI Ensemble Munich, Children at Play, Harry James, the Munich Radio Orchestra and the Munich Symphony Orchestra.
In 1999, he won an award at the Günter Bialas Competition for Contemporary Chamber Music (University of Music and Performing Arts Munich).
As an arranger, he currently works for “Blechschaden“ (brass players from Munich Philharmonic Orchestra directed by Bob Ross), the Bayerische Theaterakademie “August Everding“ (Musical classes), the Munich Radio Orchestra and the “Große Nachtmusik” program on German public-service television channel ZDF.
For the orchestra of the Südostbayerisches Städtetheater he has arranged music and/or played woodwind instruments in “That’s Entertainment”, “In 80 Takten um die Welt” (Around the World in 80 Measures), “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Der gestiefelte Kater” (Puss in Boots), “Harry und Sally” and „Spamalot“.
As a saxophone player, he recently joined the Passau-based saxophone quartet “Passax” and has directed the “Passau Jazz Orchestra”.
