Jakob Wagner
At the age of 18, by a fortunate circumstance, I got an old upright piano from an aunt given. In the self-study I came quite quickly to my limits, which is why I signed up in 2009 in the music school St. Valentin and was informed by Mr Terzinsky in piano. In the summer of 2011, I visited the piano master class at the AMA Academy of Music in Altenburg, where I met Robert Lehrbaumer, which informs me to this day.
For a concert in January 2013 an orchestration of the piano piece "Memories of Mitzi" by David Neal Lewis was applied to me, which should be performed by the Lebanese Philharmonic. When working on the piece I created a paraphrase called "MZKA". This was my very first orchestral piece, which was first performed in the course of the concert in Beirut. Then there were two other performances of the play at the Academy of Music in Altenburg and the Castle concerts in Halbturner. 2014 I composed on behalf of Mag. Gertrud Stecher the piece "Rasmun" for viola and piano. This was premiered at INÖK and "prima la musica" competition of the young, talented violist Finn Dempsy.
I hear a lot of different music, let myself be inspired by classical, jazz, pop, rock and contemporary music and improvise on the piano a lot. I collect impressions and then try to find musical expressions. When I am patient and not expect anything it appears to be the best process of writing music. The collaboration with performers and their impressions, opinions and reviews make me better understand my music. The fact that someone else is preoccupied with my music and interprets it with devotion are the highlights as a composer for me so far.
