Charles West Although trained initially as a classical pianist, Charles West developed an interest in jazz while a medical student and formed two successful jazz trios before setting aside further public performance. He maintained a keen interest in classical and jazz composition, and has developed this further since retiring to Devon, where he directs two chamber choirs.
