The composition is based on the Old High German original version and the New High German transmission proposed in the announcement of the Diabelli Contest. The through-composed choral movement brings the two versions of the lyrical versions quasi in two varied stanzas for listening. After the opening introductory measures ( 'Dat gafredin ih') the two "stanzas" divide into three thematically distinct parts:
The scoring of the first line (to "firriwizzo meista" or "miracle of the Greatest"), the narrative part, is reported in the not yet existing world, and then, a little more lively, the news of God and the "beautiful spirits" that leads to a gradual increase until the dynamic climax in a (different depending on the stanza) floating pianissimo dissonance.
I try to do the archaism of the medieval words justice, which is still felt in the New High German transcription, in terms of (modern) free tonality.
The movement is created in five-part (split soprano) and in the livelier parts passage-based as well as in six-part (with an additional shared alto). Voice types soprano I (B flat) D-G; soprano II A-F; alto G-A; tenor (B flat) D-F sharp; bass: G-D flat.
The submitted MP3 file has no live recording again, but was created digitally by means of notation software.
