Alwin Mücher
Alwin Mücher (1976 - ) was first exposed to music at his local music school's early musical education program in Bochum. There he learned to play recorder, glockenspiel, xylophone and various percussion instruments (e.g. triangle, drums, timpani and rattles).

From 1999 to 2005 he studied composition, eartraining and arranging with Andreas Pieper, church musician and composer. Since 1999 he has been studying oboe with Norbert Kaatze of the Essener Philharmoniker and from 2009 on with Matthias Ihrig-Goede at the Bochum music school. Beside the oboe he plays the cor anglais since 2011.

He wrote his first composition Little Waltz Op. 1 for string quartet during his work as a writer in 1994, as background music for a film script. The first part of the Elfen-Saga is also based on his own texts. Inspired by contemporary film music from Elliot Goldenthal, Jerry Goldsmith and James Horner, his musical interests have expanded to the Classical period and especially to the Romantic period and the great symphonies of Mahler and Bruckner. A further hobby, astronomy, served as the source for the symphonic cycle for the four Galileo symphonies. Each symphony is devoted to one of the 4 Galilean moons of Jupiter (Io, Ganymed, Callisto and Europa).
