Nazanin Piri Niri
Nazanin Piri, born in Tehran, received her pianistic and pedagogical education at the ''University of Music'' (Lübecker Musikhochschule) in Lübeck, Germany, under Prof. Manfred Fock.
In 2010 she continued her piano studies at the ''International College of Music'' in Hamburg and completed her studies at the ''Free University'' (Freie Universität) with a Master of Arts in musicology. Subsequently, she was allowed to assist the musicologist Prof. Hartmut Grimm on the occasion of Richard Strauss' 150th birthday for one semester at the ''Hanns Eisler Academy of Music'' (Musikhochschule Hanns Eisler) in Berlin.
She completed master classes and private studies under Maxim Philipov, Prof. Konstanze Eickhorst, Heidrun Holtmann, Prof. Peter Feuchtwanger, Prof. Ludwig Pflanz, Prof. Anthony Spiri and Prof. Herbert Wiedemann. She has particularly shaped her musical collaboration with the composer Friedhelm Döhl, to whom she still feels a close connection since the rehearsal of his "Three Ballads after Celan" and regularly performs his works, most recently for the ''Sponsoring Society for New Music in the Pyramid'' (Förderkreis für Neue Musik in the Pyramid) in Heilbronn together with ''Theater FF'' (also in Heilbronn).
She has won several prizes at the national level for "Jugend musiziert" (Youth makes Music). As a soloist and chamber musician, she gave numerous concerts with the violinist Fiona Rholffs and performed on Iranian television with her own compositions.
Charity concerts of the Lions Club under the direction of Hans Letschert and Richard Wester gave her the first impetus to continue her charitable commitment. These include benefit concerts at the Hamburg and Berlin ''Bechstein Center'' for Iranian refugees as well as performances at a Berlin refugee center.
In collaboration with the choreographer Modjgan Hashemian, she has taken over the musical staging of an improvised dance piece for the ''Emil-Nolde'' exhibition opening in 2010. His own works as well as music from Expressionism and the present were played on the piano.
In 2011 she played duo with the Iranian pianist Neda Navaee.
In 2013 she completed her master's degree at the ''International College of Music'' with a final concert at the ''Chilehaus'' in Hamburg. Shortly afterwards, her first CD recording was released by Veraphon.
She is currently a flute player and pianist with the ''Elias Nardi Ensemble'' and performs regularly at festivals and jazz concerts in Italy, Germany, Romania, Belgium and Switzerland. 2015 saw the release of the new album "Flowers of Fragility", produced by Analogy Records and released by Visage Music.
Guest appearances with renowned jazz musicians such as Francesco D' Auria and Max de Aloe brought her to the ''Ambria Jazz Festival'' in Northern Italy in 2015. Further appearances in Italy and Romania, among others in the concert series "Naked Jazz" and "Jazz Nouveau". She has performed with renowned musicians such as Ares Tavolazzi, Daniele di Bonaventura, Franco Baggiani, Ermanno Librasi, Carlo la Manna, Emanuele Le Pera and Claudio Farinone.
In November 2017, the ''Elias Nardi Group'' went on tour in Germany with the legendary Italian jazz bass player Ares Tavolazzi and played their own arrangements and works.
She is currently a piano teacher at the ''Bern Conservatory''.
