Volker Grimsehl Volker Grimsehl: Carl Orff Competition 2018 Notes on my composition (Competition 2018)

« Back ⇧List⇧ Next »
In our historically shaped music culture, feeling is expressed in major and minor. The minor third stands for sadness, the major third for happiness. The pentatonic lacks a third. The lack of feeling in Eurydice transformed by the realm of the dead and wandering is reflected in the basic mood of this composition in the pentatonic.

The singing voice cannot be played back via the sound system. It has therefore been replaced by a bass clarinet. The words spoken in the poem are also spoken.
