Juan Jacobo Restrepo: Carl Orff Competition 2018 Balada de Eurídice

Juan Jacobo Restrepo Juan Jacobo Restrepo Quintero was born in Cali, Colombia. He began his musical education at an early age. He studied percussion symphony with Gustavo Jordán and harmony, counterpoint and musical language structures with Mario Gómez-Vignes. Since 1996 he has worked as a percussionist with various groups such as "Orquesta Sinfónica del Valle" and "Banda Departamental del Valle". He is currently a member of the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, a position he has held since 2003.

Alongside his work as a percussionist, he has accelerated his career as a composer and orchestrator. His first string quartet was premiered at the renowned Music Hall by Luis Angel Arango Library of the M4nolov Quartet in 2011. As an orchestrator he took part in various projects such as ''Andrés Cepeda Symphonic'' and the ''Cartagena International Music Festival''.

He graduated from the ''Pontificia Universidad Javeriana'' in Bogotá, Colombia, with a master's degree in music focusing on composition.
