Alberto Molinari Alberto Molinari: Carl Orff Competition 2019 Fantàsia " Libertas mentis"

« Back ⇧List⇧ Next »
Libertas mentis is an organ work that was composed in a classical direction, my favourite type of music.
All starts with the Mozart theme and with a slowly and dramatic introduction that resolves with 3 strong answers. The next part used the orff theme in the left hand and in the pedal untill arrives the question and answer ( like a conversation) from respectively two themes. We have a little fugue part with a sweet organ sound based on the Orff theme modificated. All goes untill the repeating intro in another tonality. The theme isn't abandoned and is the melodic centre of the last romantic part. The song continues to evolve in high register and it ends with three deep isolated chords.
The composition needs two different sounds from the manuals. The first one has a full pipe organ sound ( with 16,8,4,2,1 pipes) and the reeds sound only on the pedals.
The second manual has a more sweet sound that is used for the fugue part and the answer parts to the Orff theme in the last part of the composition.
