Jochem Le Cointre
Pianist/Composer Jochem le Cointre (Netherlands, 1994) started playing piano at an early age, and soon took part in national competitions (Princess Christina competition) and summerschools. After graduating high school he moved to the U.S. to pursue his musical studies at The New School in New York and The New York Piano Academy, where he was taught by Dr. Ronn Yedidia in composition. He developed quickly as a young musician in all musical fields of classical, jazz, and music-theater, and his compositions and arrangements were selected for several major NYC events. As a final thesis-project of his studies Le Cointre mounted a production of his first opera “Steppenwolf” based on Hermann Hesse’s novel. He wrote the music and libretto and produced its premiere production in a collaboration of 50 people, at the Tishman Theater in New York. He currently lives in Amsterdam where he composes new music for Dutch ensembles and orchestras, and works on mounting his own new music-theater productions.
