Madara Petersone Madara Petersone: Carl Orff Competition 2019 TIME STAYS, WE GO

« Back ⇧List⇧ Next »
When I am listening to a musical piece which has a main theme I am very familiar with I also feel how I am loosing the sensation of time at that moment. While the theme is presenting itself I do not expect something, I just enjoy the presence of the theme and sing along it and feel very confident. After a while when the theme comes again I know again for how long it will be there and for how long I can feel safe and stable and expect no surprises that blows me out of my comfortable chair. I have discovered that Theme has a power to give me the feeling of safety.
Like the moment of no time existing, no hurry. You find that the title of my composition tells about the time and reminds that time is not the one who is moving but rather we are. The quoted Theme by Mozart here in my composition is meant to become a musical space without the time and clock ticking. Meanwhile all the other "new" thematic structures derived from the Theme are the ones who are moving around and trying to reach their goals - on time. The quotation of the theme by Carl Orff comes in the very end and lets all that final musical structure to grow into this majestic and powerful chord like a summary of all that run before now being far away.
