Miran Tsalikian
Miran Tsalikian is a musician of Greek-Armenian origin. He was born in 02/09/86 and lives in Nikaia of Attica. He was a student of the Piraeus Music High School and graduated from the National Kapodistrian University where he completed his studies in Musicology. He holds a degree in Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue with Excellent and completed his Piano studies at Bachelor level. At the same time he studied bouzouki for 10 years. At the age of 19, he collaborates with the bouzouki music band DROMOS, with whom he performs concerts throughout Greece and abroad.
In 2006, in France, at the Bobigny Theater, in 2007 in Kuwait, and in Syria's Damascus. In 2008 he was involved in the Olympic Flame delivery ceremony at the Beijing Olympics. At the same time, he studies Music Composition and takes conducting lessons while he is also a professor of bouzouki at the Municipal Conservatory of Korydallos.
Today he works as a musician in the Air Force Orchestra and he orchestrates his 49-member band. He is also a founding member of the six-member Musical Folk Form of HAMAT, with many folk compositions, for his figure, his assets and selected appearances in various cultural sites and for charity in collaboration with the FLOGA Foundation.
As a composer he is associated with that group of composers whose music incorporates aspects of eastern musical characteristics into a western classical music setting. His scores selected in several international calls for scores. Tsalikian’s works have been performed in Belgium, Greece, Philippines, Romania, Russia, and the U.S. by renowned ensembles and orchestras.
Achivements
1st Place and Prize Award for the Best work in the International Orchestral Composition Competition Based on the Song "March for Our Beloved" in South Korea from Gwangju Cultural Foundation.
His work ‘’Satin Dust’’ for solo clarinet has been selected from Emily Mehingh on the first solo project called “The Miniature Month of May”.
