This Toccata is inspired in organ's golden age, and in the improvisation that the most notable organ players used to do. It is organized as a "song and dance". The song melody is mainly derived from the Carl Orff's "ule oneire" chord; while the dance's rhythmic section is based mainly on the Mozart's Fantasie. However, it is possible to track elements of both themes throughout the whole piece; because most of the themes, rhythms, melodies and harmonies in this work are either fully taken from these themes or modified by them. It is a very contrasting work, that encourages the performer to use the full potential of the organ. The registration suggested is merely a guide for the performer. The performers should look for the sonorities that fit their interpretation and conception of the work.
