Ziyi Tao: Carl Orff Competition 2020 马桑树搭灯台 (On Masan Tree a Light Stand Builds)

This piece is an arrangement of a traditional Chinese folk tune from the sub ethnic group from which my mother's family was originated from, it tells the story of a couple whose loving relationship is disturbed because of the wartime duty of the husband; however it is also a celebration of love, as well as the faithfulness of the wife who decides to await for the return of her husband despite his suggestion for her to find for herself another lover.
