Wolfgang Weller: Diabelli-Contest 2014

Wolfgang Weller Born in Ehingen/Donau in 1955, Wolfgang Weller started composing music at age nine and studied music at conservatories in Munich and Freiburg. He is a composer, concert pianist, originator and artistic director of the ÖPFINGER SCHLOSSKONZERTE concert series, piano teacher and head of a public music school. Weller especially dedicates himself to bringing art music to places other than the major centers of culture and fostering young talents in that area.
Besides lieder, choir and chamber music, his compositional work comprises numerous works for piano as well as for guitar and saxophone. His studies of ancient Greek musical theory have had a significant impact on some of his work. Manuscripts of his works are stored at the municipal archive in Ehingen, the manuscript archive of the Association of German Musicians (Deutscher Tonkünstlerverband), the Hölderlin Archive of the German Literature Archive in Marbach and in the archive of the Ulm Choral Society (Sängergau Ulm). Compositions by Holler have been performed at the SCHWÄBISCHE DICHTERSTRASSE and BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERGISCHES TONKÜNSTLERFEST concert series and in radio programs.
