Martin-Christoph Dieterich Martin-Christoph Dieterich: Diabelli-Contest 2014

Despite all important peace treaties, despite all great relief from the end of life, freedom and happiness due to devastating wars - for us, above all, the end of World War II - peace also always remains (only) utopian. A prerequisite for real peace would be empathy, sensibility, openness and to always be ready to question oneself, draw conclusions from that, then act. It appears we as humans are deplorably far from all that. And who can know whether small steps can oppose the most different acts of violence sufficiently? But does an alternative exist?
Of force, mourning and naturally emphatically-shiftless sending of Morse code, of apparently always comparing, above all however from the scope of quiet and clarity, my composition wants "to recite" in an utopian manner without being programmatic.

The "Irini Rhythm" provides the most important intervals to my piece by the length of the individual 'letters' (2, 3 or 4 units) at the same time so that the seconds strung together or imprecisely rubbing against one another similarly play a role like triads.

But maybe in the last large section neither are the rhythm strongly drawn out in length nor the tone progressions different in previous parts, originated or already used, so what is being heard hopefully is fascinating.
