The formal structure of Evanescence, based on the climatic section of Rilke's Orpheus. Eurydike.Hermes. is determinated by the text.
The images bound to the past of Eurydike of the beginning are costantly accompanied by the tremolo eolico of the harp in an atmosphere of sospension and nostalgy.
An interlude of the solo Harp introduces the central section of the composition that has a more fragmentary texture: "quasi recitativo".
A progressive slowing of the movement take us in the core of the composition, on the word Sie war schon Wurzel, a pedal of D in the harp prepare the entrace on the drum on the given rythmyc pattern, that is little by little accelerated in a quasi canone with the percussive sounds of the harp.
The dramatic epilogue of the story is reached in an increasing of tension in the following Agitato.
In the end everything vanishes among the harmonics sounds and the hisses of the harp and the broken singing of the soprano in her extreme high range.
