The song ''Beno mes st' Abeli'' is a traditional Greek song of the harvest in the Greek Ancient Epitrite rythm 7/8.
The song starts with the fairy tale of mr Tik - Tak who is a board marker who does the same work like the metronome.
Pedagogical goals of the song.
(a) empirical understanding of
7/8 (3 + 2 + 2 )of the Kalamatianos,
the ancient Greek epitrite rhythm, through body percussion,
(b) cultivation of biphonic singing
(c) Perception of the concept of rhythm/beat in a complex meter (7/8),
(d) cultivation of phonetic range
(e) linking the song with past and current Greek cultural events and activites
(f) cultivating empathy and team spirit,
(g) learning of the rhythmic form 7/8 (3+2+2) in word terms (waltz – one, two -) (and yia mas -"opa - opa")
(h)Familiarization with the customs of the harvest,
(I ) Understanding the concept or role of rest in music through the fairy tale and the sound 'ssssss' which indicates silence in music.
