Energetic composition in Neo-Classical style: first a dramatic but brooding prelude, ending with the short quotation from Orff's "De temporum fine comoedia", which provides also the (bi)tonal structure for the entire piece. The prelude is followed by a peculiar, double, permutation fugue based on the Mozart quotation from the Fantasia K.475 and the ascending beginning of the chorale "O Ewigkeit, du Donnerwort". During the fugue its themes suffer various transformations, and instead of a proper coda a partial variant of the descending chorale "Ach Herr, lass dein lieb' Engelein" ends the work in spiritual triumph. Duration: 7 min.
