Albin Wirbel
Albin Wirbel (*October 16, 1971) is a trained church musician and works full-time in the parish of Herz-Jesu, Neugablonz, Germany.
At his concerts and church services, the listeners appreciate his wealth of ideas and his sensitive yet lively and stirring playing. His compositions also reflect this diversity both in terms of style and instrumentation. There are modern works for didgeridoo and organ, impressionistic compositions for flute and classical orchestral masses.
In order to perform these and other works in the proper style, he is director and founder of his own ensembles: the "Buronia Trio" (specialized for romantic and modern music), the ensemble "Carl Philipp" (for baroque and classical music), and larger project-related ensembles.
In order to further enliven the choir scene, the "Ü60 Chor" (Over 60 years old choir) was added to the existing choir groups in autumn 2018. A choir that is specially tailored to the singing needs of older people.
He leads the concert series "Friday Concerts" for the ''St. Dominikus Church'' which reinvigorates the oldest church in Kaufbeuren.
It is Albin Wirbel's desire to constantly reinterpret and combine the various arts. The listeners are integrated into the composition. Space and sounds are perceived in a new way. In his performances and compositions he repeatedly picks up on the inherent qualities of a room. Images, texts, light and space enter into dialogue with the music. And this leads to the emergence of new sounds and sensory perceptions. Thus, in a Passion Concert, the actors moved through the church space and apparently created Palm Sunday. Consciously used light and darkness increased the drama of the Passion event. And so the expanse of the room took on a new dimension. An experience that gets under your skin.
In addition to his studies in church music, Wirbel also studied music pedagogy, musicology, pedagogy and psycholinguistics. He passes on this combined knowledge in lectures and seminars. He also publishes various books such as poems and illustrated books.
