This is a popular Argentinian folk song. Its author is unknown and as such it falls under public domain. It is composed over a Huayno rhythm and it has three melodic sections (A, B & C in the score).
In this arrangement, you'll find the mandatory Orff instruments and a two part children choir plus typical percussion instruments from classroom (tambourine, sleigh bells, maracas, vibraslap, guiro and triangle).
While the xylophones and flute plays all the time over a diatonic scale, the string quintet goes beyond, using a variety of scales and diverse techniques to enrich the basic arrangement.
The entire piece can be played without the string quintet without loosing its form and logic.
However, in such a case, all sections tagged "I" should be ignored by playing directly the following section (A, B or C)
